The South East Local Research Network (SE-LRN) Research Network is part of the Stroke Research Network (SRN). The SRN is part of the United Kingdom Clinical Research Network (UKCRN) which was established by the Department of Health and aims to improve the speed, quality, and integration of research, ultimately resulting in improved patient care.

The aim of the network is to facilitate and increase the throughput of multi centre clinical trials and other high quality studies in all areas of stroke including acute care, prevention and rehabilitation. SE-LRN is one of eight local research networks funded by the Department of Health throughout the UK. It covers hospitals throughout South London, Kent, Sussex, and Surrey with a population of just over 3 million. It builds on a very strong research programme, and an existing stroke research network (South London Stroke Research Group), in South London and extends it to additional hospitals in Surrey, Sussex, and Kent. The LRN will provide both general stroke research support and training, as well as dedicated research sessions. These will initially be provided to the following hospitals: South London; (Mayday University Hospital, Croydon, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals Trust, King’s College Hospital, Lewisham Hospital, St Helier’s Hospital, St George’s Hospital), Surrey; (St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey), Sussex; (Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton), Kent: (Kent and Canterbury Hospital, William Harvey Hospital Ashford). There are a number of other hospitals affiliated to the networks including The Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, Crawley Hospital, East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, and Worthing Hospital.
